Skyler is ONE! {Kansas City Family Photographer}

A year ago my life completely…..changed. Change is good….I embrace change. I L.O.V.E.D. this change. Skyler has been the most amazing little man in my husband and I’s life. He has taught us so many wonderful things about each other. He has taught me patience and has shown me how to love like I never thought that I could. He has also taught me that health is a luxury that not everyone is born with, but that you should NEVER take your health for granted. At 4 months old Skyler underwent open heart surgery to repair the large hole in his heart. My life completely changed. Today, he is a healthy, happy, always on-the-go miracle. He. is. my. WORLD.

Here’s a glimpse at why I wake up every morning with the biggest smile on my face.

Happy 1st Birthday, Skyler Evan!

Halli, 2012 FACES Model {Kansas City Senior Photography}

I was initially overwhelmed with everyone who applied to be a 2012 {FACES} model. I’m always looking for someone who is fun and energetic and up for all of my weird/crazy ideas! We always ask the question: Why would you make a good {FACES} Model for Yount Photography. Halli responded by saying: “I am fun, energetic and willing to try anything new and different. My clothing style is simple but when it comes to my pictures, I am will to do anything to get a cool unique shot”.  And that’s exactly why we picked her!

Halli is involved in a lot of different activities and wanted to include basketball in her shots. I had this crazy idea to get all “glammed up” and take some shots surrounding JUNK with a basketball. She was in! I’m glad she was, because it’s one of my favorite images from her session! Here’s a look at her senior portrait experience:

Thanks Halli for choosing Yount Photography for your senior portrait experience! If you would like to be one of our {FACES} Models, shoot us an email to get more details!

Katie, Sweet Springs High School {Kansas City Senior Photographer}

Ok, so I have been really, I mean REALLY bad at blogging lately. It’s been a busy year for us – more on that in another post – so I thought I’d share a few of our latest sessions.

Katie came to us all the way from Sweet Springs. She is our first from Sweet Springs and if everyone from there is as photogenic as Katie is – keep them coming!! Katie is a super sweet girl who was up for just about anything. Even climbing up in a waterfall for me! Here’s a look at Katie’s portrait experience.

2009 where did you go? {Kansas City Family Photographer}

It has been WAY too long since I have last blogged. 2009 was a very busy year for us and we couldn’t be any more excited for 2010!

This fall I was given an opportunity to leave “Corporate America” to pursue my dream of doing photography full-time – I took it…….. and never looked back! I truly believe that you should do what you love and what challenges and inspires you. Photography is that for me! I love each and every client and so lucky to have the most amazing clients. Ever.
Here’s a glimpse of some of my rock star clients that I had the privilege to capture last year.

To all of my clients, friends and family thank you so much for allowing me to do what I love the most. 2010 is already off to an amazing start!

Relay for Life: Walking for Kim {Kansas City Photographer}

Have you ever been around someone that is a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day? Someone who always sees the glass as half full and you would never know that they have had a bad day? That someone is my sister-in-law, Kim. She is the most positive person I have ever met. ever. In late January, Kim was diagnosed with breast cancer. My world came crashing down with memories of loved ones past. Kim on the other hand took it as a challenge to see how happy and positive she could remain. After treatments, Kim sends out updates to let friends and family know how well she is doing. In one of her recent updates Kim selflessly asks for cards and prayers for another young cancer survivor battling the disease on her own. Kim always puts others before herself. Always. So, when I was asked to walk in the Relay for Life in honor of Kim I never hesitated. Absolutely, I would never miss it!

The event started by having the survivors take the first lap. Each survivor introduced themselves and said how long ago they were diagnosed.
Half way through the first lap each survivor was greeted by their designated sponsor. My husband, Jason, was asked and he was HONORED.

One of the team contests during the night was a queen competition. You had to dress up 1 guy from your team as a girl. Each queen candidate had to answer a series of (hilarious) feminine questions. After the Q&A session each candidate had to strut their stuff down the track “pimpin” for cash. The candidate with the most cash won. Can you see where this is going?!? It’s a good thing my boy is comfortable in his own skin because yes – he was nominated for our team to represent! Here is a CENSORED picture with Kim…..

Needless to say, Jason won!! I can’t begin to tell you how relieved I was when it was all over with and he could wear normal clothes.

For those of you on Facebook you can see the series on the group page: “Team Kim: Network of Support”.

Prior to the walk Kim had recently had a chemo treatment known as the “Red Devil”. She is such a trooper – you would of never known. I have been blessed to have married into such an amazing family. Kim is my hero!!

If you see me walking …I walk in memory of my mother-in-law, Joyce; I walk in honor of my sister-in-law, Kim; I walk for all of the survivors; I walk because I have Life. And dang, it’s beautiful.
